Artist's Comments

This is acrylic paint on canvas. I painted this from a photo in National Geographic [link] . It is very much like the photo, but I don't want to call this realism, because the photo itself looked surreal.

Real/surreal? Perhaps both. Either way, the beautiful and reverent Thailand Sunset by *LRRHood finds itself on display at an appropriate time in our generation. Please don't pass this one by.

Acrylic on canvas. (Featured by `frail)

The mood comes through very well. And the realism works well. Very nice!

I love the subtle distinctly oriental mistiness of this ... an image which forces you [in the nicest possible way] to travel into its depths and [hopefully] lose yourself in its beauty. :+fav:

I love this! My daughter spent the summer in Thailand and some of the pictures she had looked very similar to the landscape here. Beautiful work!

Now that you mention it ...it does look familiar.

It definitely stands on its own, though. It's a great picture ...layout, technique ...all that.
And long for wall hanging ;)

Too cool

Excellent piece. Very well done.
I love the big red funky sun so high in the sky. And the fogginess in the landscape is giving this an excellent feel of mystic times. I'd expect a dragon to fly over :)
Really nice.

*gasp*
i've been doing some studying on chinese watercolors and ink paintings. (can't seem to get the hang of it though. *shrug*
no discipline i guess.)
anyway,...
this is exactly what this reminds me of. it's exactly what i would like to do.
the color scheme is gorgeous. i love the long crop 'look' too.
nice job of atmospheric perspective as well. (thought i'd throw that in. heh.)
god. and all you used was acrylics? looks almost like charcoals along the bottom.
it depresses me actually. but inspires and motivates me as well.
and what more could you ask?
that's why i came to DA in the first place.
to be humbled and to be better for it.

nice.
